The first thing the viewer sees when the movie starts is a disclaimer that all characters speak in their native language. It also says that it is translated by an interpreted and has captions. Another thing that is in the first part of the movie is a lot of Chinese writing. There are 27 titles in the opening sequence of the film. It included many things such as the director and the producers. The producers include Fox Searchlight Pictures and Indian Paintbrush. They also included actors and who they are playing. For example, Edward Norton as Rex, and Bob Bablaban as King. There was only one part of the opening sequence. The whole part where big men playing the drums. These men are also playing other instruments. They are also in a dark room with one light above them, there are only three of them. They are also in asian attire, which establishes where they are, so does the lettering one the sides of the opening section. The connotations of these opening slides is very dramatic. It also establishes the setting. The way that the genre is reinforced through technical coodes is the music. The music is the main way this film is expressed as a drama. I find its introduction music to be very dramatic with large bangs of the drums. Another way the film expresses its a genre is the lighting in the opening sequence. The lighting that is in the opening sequence is a spotlight on the drum players, the spotlight is dramatic. The way that the film establishes and enigma from the beginning because of all of the Chinese language. The strategies used to target an audience is the translation of words that is embedded into the film. This means that the audience may mostly be English speakers. Another audience is also targeted in this film. It may be Chinese speakers, because that is the language used. One way that technology is used is because this film is stop motion, which takes a lot of time and a very advanced new camera. One type of camera angles that is used in the opening sequence is an aerial shot. This is when they are above all the drummers.

Title Research: Gone With the Wind
The film at hand, gone with the wind, starts off with the company who produced it. It is on some sort of plaque and it says a Selznick International Picture. There are forty titles displayed in the opening sequence. In the opening sequence the movie introduces the actors, producers, and directors to the audience. One title that was displayed was the production designer. The production designer is William Cameron. Also a large part of the opening sequence was the actors. For example, George O'hara plays Thomas Mitchell. There is steady aspect of the opening sequence that stays in the majority of the sequence. In the background of the titles that are being introduced there is a countryside. This countryside includes morses, a white house, and a grass field. The connotations of the images is that it is establishing the setting. The audience from the start is being introduced to the setting and where the majority or all of the film will take place. The genre is reenfored from the outset by the sound. There is one soul sound throughout the whole title sequence. This sound is very dramatic, it sounds like an orchestra playing. The music creates a dramatic and emotional effect right from the beginning of the film. The way the film creates and enigma from the outset may be from the soothingness of the music and scenery. This film is a drama, and is very exciting, suspenseful, and scary at times. The smoothness of the beginning of the film may confuse readers to think the film will not be as exciting. The strategies that are used to target their audience is by the amount of suspense and scary parts of the film. This targets an older audience because this dramatic film is known to not be for kids. The way that the technology is being used correctly is from the editing standpoint. For example, this is a very old fim, yet is has nice transitions for the words. One way the words transition is byt moving up the screen.

Title Research: Sabrina the Teen Witch
This website is very helpful for researching movie titles for our specific genre. The reason I am looking at this website is to advance my knowledge on movie titles. I am looking specifically for my genre and what it looks like. Also how real people in the industry make the titles. The title design is usually linked with the genre. I learned many things from this website because it had so many things to look at. For example, something I learned from this website is how certain genres have certain movie titles to match the connotation of that genre. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, is a horror movie that has a very interesting title. This specific title caught my eye because ive seen the movie. Also the fount is very fitting for this film because it is creepy. Also the color of the fount is good because its yellow, which you don't see often so it is special. It is also creepy because it has a black figure and a bear tree with falling leaves. This highly advanced my knowledge on the subject of title design. Even though it was not my genre, analyzing any movie can help you. I now know that your title has to fit the connotation of your genre, and it needs to be eye catching and interesting.
Title Research: Watch the Titles Website
As we get closer and closer to filming, we have to continue to research to get a better understanding of the "Drama" Genre. One of the important aspects of drama is the way in which they incorporate there opening sequence. This is why its critical for us to research because it will help us in brainstorming our opening research as we will have visual examples of what it should resemble. Furthermore, it is vital to make our research credible with sources. So we used "Art of Titles" and another website called "watch the Titles". These two websites were very easy to manage and it made researching a "stroll in the park" compared to what it would've most likely been if we had to search up drama movies, then figure out on what platform to watch it, and find at what time the sequence begins. They were so easy due to the fact that you would select a genre and it would give a variety of different types of movies categorized in the genre of "Drama". Throughout our research we will be keeping an eye and taking notes on the fonts which are used, the size of the text, and as well the placement of the titles. After we research we will discuss as a group what we will want to incorporate and not have in our short movie. This will be done collectively and efficiently as we have a great chemistry and are good in finding ways in which everyone in the group will be in agreement with our plan.

Genre research: chasing mavericks
Beginning of Movie:
Lighting in this movie plays a big role as it gives the audience an understanding of the ambience of the current scene. Since the movie starts off at the beach it continues to show natural lighting, rarely using any artificial lighting, unless if necessary. In the beginning of the movie the characters are introduced and we are shown that the little kid is the protagonist of the movie and the other actors are going to be supportive characters for the main character's story. We are given a little glimpse at the aspect of make-up 5 minutes into the movie, as the main character "Jay Moriarity"stumps his nose against the surfboard and begins to bleed out of his nose. The props that are shown in the movie are the tennis ball, the letter, the bottles, and then most importantly the surfboard. Now the reason as to why the surfboard carries so much meaning behind it is because at the beginning of the movie "Frosty" a supporting character saves Jay only due to the fact that he was surfing. Then later on, it's seen that Jay wants to go learn how to surf and the only reason he is able to even go out with his old and broken board is due to the fact that he gets parts which Frosty owns. This indicates and foreshadows the idea that Frosty and Jay will have a continuous close relationship as the movie carries on.
Middle of Movie:
Camera angles are very important in this part of the movie. The reason for this is because most of the scenes we saw in the middle portion of the movie were while the actors were surfing. This provided the audience a better understanding of the perspective of the character and the difficulty of surfing giant waves. Some of the angles that were used were: High angle, low angle, POV angle, Two shot, Master shot, and Over-The-Shoulder. Camera movements also helped in creating the feeling of the audience practically being in the movie themselves, as they gave many different perspectives and dimension to the movie. If it hadn't been more camera movements like, Zoom, Pan, Tilt, and Tracking shot. the movie would have been very basic. It would've taken away a lot of the beauty of the movie. Two big camera angles and movements that were used and stood out a lot was God's eye and POV. The reason for this is because God's eye allowed us to see the difficulty of what the surfers were doing. Furthermore, the POV allowed us to see the danger's of what it really is to be in the water when surfing these colossal waves.
End of Movie:
Sound has a powerful impact in the movie due to the fact that during the end of the movie the drama occurring is at its highest. With the waves crashing, and the panicked and worried crowd. it plays a big role in giving the audience understanding what's happening in the movie. As well the music at then end allows us to understand the shift in the mood of the movie. It went from uplifting when Jay surfed the wave, to sad when we find out Jay had died, and then back to uplifting as we find peace in knowing that Jay left a mark on many people's heart and touched the lives of many. The ending shows a true clip of Jay and this was done by the process of editing. The use of this makes the story more powerful as it how's that this was a true story, and allows us to see who he really was.
